What is CSA?

Community Supported Agriculture refers to the mutually beneficial relationship between a farmer and the local community.  People who are interested in eating local, seasonal, naturally grown food subscribe to a CSA by purchasing “shares” or “drops.”  Members make an investment in the farm, and the farm, in turn, is encouraged to continue farming year-round, confident that everything harvested has a home to go to and will not go to waste.

By purchasing a share in our CSA, you are supporting local and sustainable agriculture. This allows us the opportunity to continue investing in the work we love to do year-round, which ends up benefitting all those who participate in the program.  CSA's provide fresh, organically grown, healthful food to the community.  And by staying local, less energy is used to bring food to consumers.  Members know where their food is coming from, will receive a wide array of seasonal farm fresh foods, and can meet the people who grow them!

How much does it cost, and what is the commitment?

Each weekly share is $30.00, and we require that members purchase a minimum of 6 drops when signing-up or renewing membership, or up to a maximum of 20 drops.  New members who may have committed to fewer shares to start can "add-on" more shares to their current bundle as soon as they know they want to continue with the program.  In all other cases, we'll notify members when they're approaching the end of their commitment and give them an opportunity to renew their subscription for up to as many weeks are remaining in the current growing year.

We accept payment by money order and check, or you can now pay by credit card online at the bottom of this page. Please note that all credit card payments include a $10.00 processing charge.

When is the expected start date, and what can CSA Members expect to receive?

We are targeting mid-to-late March as the start of this year's program.

Members will receive a supply of local, naturally grown, seasonal produce directly from our farm.  The share is delivered to a central location for pick-up each week, and contains 10 - 20 # of produce. The variation in weight can be explained by what we’re harvesting (since winter squash weigh on average 5#, but radishes weigh far less). We always aim to provide 5 - 8 different varieties of produce within each share, so that you’re receiving a balanced portion of whatever we’re harvesting.

There will be weeks when we also have truly free-ranging organic farm eggs for sale, local honey from Sunnyvale, and grass-fed local beef available; members will be notified in advance of when we have these items and can choose to "add-on" to their CSA Share if desired!

When our harvest is affected by conditions outside of our control, we will suspend the current term until conditions improve and we are able to harvest enough to resume  and make-up the missed drops.

Where are the CSA Drop locations, and what are the pick-up days?

Select the location and time that best suits your schedule.  This is where and when you will pick up your produce each week:

- DALLAS:  Saturdays: 9:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. @ Dallas Farmers' Market
: CURRENTLY FULL!
To be added to the DFM waiting list, please send us an e-mail!  Or, sign up for our Dallas drop on Wednesdays to guarantee you'll have a share of our farm's harvest this year.  If space becomes available on Saturday, we can always transfer your pick-up location.

- DALLAS:  Wednesdays: 4:30 p.m. - 6:30 p.m. @ Dallas - LOCAL restaurant, 2936 Elm St., 75226

- COPPELL:  Saturdays: 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 NOON @ Coppell Farmers' Market

*If you are inquiring about a CSA drop in Pittsburg, please send us an e-mail.

I live alone, or don’t think I will be able to eat a share’s worth of food each week.  Can I pick up bi-weekly?

At this time we don't offer a bi-weekly pick-up, but can understand if committing to picking up each week is simply not feasible for everyone.  In this instance, we would suggest that you partner with a friend or neighbor with whom you can “split” your share.  You would share the cost of the subscription and you would alternate who picks up.  This guarantees that each of you are receiving a share of produce every other week.

What type of produce can I expect to receive in my CSA share?

Our growing season typically runs continuously from March through December; we only pause the program when the temperatures become extreme (i.e. a few weeks in August).  As an example of what might be included in your share from month to month, please see below.  Please note that this list is not conclusive, nor will everything we grow be ready to harvest exactly when we've indicated it will!  In addition to some better known varieties, we also grow many unique heirloom varieties of your favorite vegetables.  (*Not all varieties are listed)

March, April, May:    lettuce mix, greens (i.e. kale, collards, spinach, etc.), radishes, mizuna, turnips, carrots, Pittsburg strawberries, cucumbers, sugar snap peas, wild blackberries, summer squash (patty pan, crookneck), zucchini (golden, striped, eight-ball), new potoates, onions, etc.

June, July, August:    local blueberries, wild blackberries, tomatoes (heirloom and conventional), sweet peppers, hot peppers, cucumbers, Efurd's peaches, summer squash, okra, eggplant, zucchini, new potatoes, onions, melons (canteloupe, watermelon), etc.

September, October, December:    second-season summer squash, tomatoes, eggplant, okra, peppers, winter squash (i.e. buttercup, delicata, butternut, sugar pumpkins), greens (i.e. kale, chard, spinach, mustards), mizuna, lettuces, sweet potatoes, turnips, radishes, etc.

Does Comeback Creek Farm ever work with other farmers?

We have been fortunate enough to establish relationships with other like-minded growers in our area who we are happy to support whenever we can.  We concentrate on growing enough quantity and variety, however, that the majority of our CSA is provided for by our own farm.
